![]() ![]() This is what I was told and I have no idea if it is fact, but to me it sounds logical. the owner knows nothing about it and I wanted to find out the year and make of the rifle and whether or not its worth the money. Bottom line, these guns didn't go through the normal process and likely don't have some records. Im looking at a sako bolt action 30-06 rifle serial number 531832. These guns would be grabbed up by someone of authority to be used for some special event, given to some celebrity, given to their largest jobber to be used to promote orders, or for many other "special reasons". They said it is likely that the gun was noticed as an exceptional example with fantastic fit, finish, fantastic wood, great checkering, if high grade was it engraved by a master doing his best work, other special features, and to some extent rarity. What I was told by many, was that it is likely the gun in question never made it to the department that records the shipping/sold to date. I never received a definitive answer as to why the missing date for shipping. This always bugged me, so I would contact the record provider and other persons that I considered experts regarding factory records and inquire as to why the record letter did not include the shipping/sold to date. Sometimes, I'll receive a letter that shows the completed/inspection date, but not the shipping/sold to date. Along with other information, the letters always address the completed/inspection date and the shipping/sold to date. I've also lettered most of my Brownings, some Winchesters and others. I've got factory letters on most of my Sakos. ![]()
